A Journey of Healing & Service
From a childhood immersed in nature to dedicated service through compassionate practice, Didi's path has been one of profound transformation and selfless dedication.
Roots in Nature & Spirit
Debdutta was born into a spiritually grounded family, blessed to be the daughter of humble disciples of Bodhi's Guru Thakur Bhajan Brahmachari. Her early childhood unfolded in a small town in Bihar, India, where she spent much of her time immersed in nature, forming deep bonds with animals—especially dogs and cats—and developing an intuitive sensitivity to life around her.
Education & Early Teaching
Alongside this closeness to nature, Debdutta navigated a challenging childhood marked by trauma and psychological struggles. While pursuing her education—earning a Master's degree in English Literature and graduating in Education—she faced profound inner challenges that shaped her lifelong inquiry into emotional healing and inner resilience. She began her professional journey as a teacher at a leading children's school in South Kolkata, where her natural empathy and nurturing presence were evident early on.
Initiation & Inner Transformation
Initiated into the practices of yoga and meditation at a young age, Debdutta continued to work through her own inner healing while seeking deeper understanding of emotional pain—an experience she found increasingly common in modern life. Her meeting with Bodhi became a pivotal turning point. Feeling an immediate inner resonance, she embraced his teachings and practices, which gradually unravelled deeply rooted subconscious patterns and brought clarity, healing, and purpose.
Dedication to Service
Moved by this transformation, Debdutta chose to leave her promising teaching career and dedicate her life to service. She joined Bodhi's ashram as a full-time volunteer, working extensively with the poor and underprivileged in slums and rural villages through charitable initiatives that have been active since 1987. Recognizing her rare capacity for deep empathy and intuitive counselling—shaped by her own lived experiences—Bodhi encouraged her to guide and support individuals undergoing emotional and psychological trauma.
